The ACS Seminar on Shipping and Shipbuilding organized by ACS TMG (Technical Management Group) and hosted by the Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI) was held in Harris Hotel & Convention, Jakarta on 2 August 2016.
The Seminar was focused on safety and environmental topics as well as recent International regulatory developments. Technical and regulatory topics such as “Regulatory developments (Environment)” “Technical challenges in small scale ships” “Safety issues for energy efficient ships” and “LNG as marine fuel and bunkering”, as well as the information sharing presentations such as “Minimizing the risk of a PSC detention due to MLC related deficiencies” and “Development of domestic rules of hull” have been covered by the speakers from the member societies of ACS.
Mr. Harry Shin, Secretary General of the ASA (Asian Shipowners’ Association), and Mr. O Kitamura (MHI) from the ASEF (Active Shipbuilding Experts' Federation) attended as the invited guest speakers and delivered presentations on “Recent developments in the international shipping” and “An NP to develop a special ISO for Vibration on specific ships” respectively.
BKI President Director on his speech expected that ACS seminar will be able to provide Asian maritime community with very updated and valuable information on the international rules, regulations and conventions to improve technical excellence of Asian maritime community in shipping and shipbuilding sectors.
The organizer received 64 questionnaire forms of more than 150 participants. All questionnaire forms showed that topics of the ACS Seminar this time were useful and its topics relevant, and requested to cover more of the maritime safety topics.
